For 20 years, I proudly served in the U.S. Army. When that chapter ended, I thought I knew what the next one would look like. Life had other plans.

Not long after retiring, I faced serious health challenges that changed my life and, for a time, changed how I saw myself. I had spent so many years serving, leading, and taking care of others that I had to rediscover who I was outside of the uniform.

Jewelry became part of that journey back to myself. What began as something that helped me feel confident and beautiful again eventually became Sonji Gem Designs.

Along the way, I realized something: the jewelry we wear may be visible, but the stories we carry often aren't.

We meet women every day without knowing what they've overcome, accomplished, sacrificed, built, or are still carrying.

That's why I created The Stories We Carry—a series celebrating real women, their journeys, and the experiences that have shaped who they are today.

Each woman will share a piece of her story while wearing a piece from Sonji Gem Designs—a simple reminder that there is always more to the woman than what we see.

This is my story. I can't wait to share theirs.
