I created this series because we meet women every day without knowing the journeys behind who they are — what they’ve overcome, accomplished, sacrificed, built, or are still becoming.
The jewelry we wear may be visible, but the stories we carry often aren’t. The Stories We Carry celebrates the woman, her journey, and everything that has shaped who she is today.
This is Valentina’s story, in her own words.
✨ MY STORY
Starting over doesn’t mean starting from nothing. Sometimes, it means standing in front of a new door and having the courage to open it.
I was born and raised in Colombia, where I graduated from medical school and became a doctor. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I cared for patients during one of the most uncertain times in our lives. That experience reminded me why I chose medicine and strengthened my desire to serve others.
When I moved to the United States, my life changed completely. I had to learn a new language, adapt to a new culture, and rebuild my path. There were moments when starting again felt difficult, but I realized I wasn’t starting from zero. I was bringing my knowledge, experiences, dreams, and resilience with me.
Along the way, new doors opened. I rediscovered modeling, walked in NYFW, MSW, and LAFW, competed in Miss Florida Earth 2023, and found love and marriage.
Today, I continue pursuing my dream of practicing medicine in America.
I’ve learned that every new beginning can become something beautiful. ✨
